Announced in early 2016, the Aston Martin Vantage GT8 was a limited-edition car with only 150 cars being produced, almost all of which sold overnight to Aston Martin customers who missed out on the GT12.
Based on the V8 Vantage, it came equipped with the same 4.7 litre V8 engine but with a power increase to 440 bhp and a top speed of 190 mph. Tuned and optimised for track-focused agility, there was an option for either a six-speed manual or seven-speed “Sportshift” paddle shift transmission.
The Vantage GT8 is the lightest Vantage Aston Martin has ever made thanks to the dramatically sculpted, wide-bodied chassis with the vast use of carbon fiber body parts.
There was carbon fiber on the roof, door panels and sport seats. Even the most distinctive feature on the Vantage GT8, its massive rear wing, is made from carbon fiber which dramatically saves precious kg on the overall weight.
Further weight-saving elements were found inside the supercar with more carbon fiber parts and lightweight components. In addition, instead of rear seats, there is a practical and lightweight anti-roll bar. The GT8 is fitted with 19-inch forged alloy wheels as standard with the option of centre-locking magnesium rims.
Aston Martin designed and engineered the Vantage GT8 to feel at home on the road or on a demanding track and as a result produced one of the finest and fastest sports cars of its time.
