Maserati took the engine from the Shamal and Quattroporte IV and substantially modified it for the Maserati 3200. Available with a six-speed manual XF transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission, the 3200 produced 370 hp and the tail lights were also the first on a production car to use LED technology.

The 3200 GT Assetto Corsa was a limited-edition variant of the 3200 GT with a special handling package. Meaning “race set-up” in Italian, the Assetto Corsa includes a lowered suspension set-up, stiffer springs, a larger anti-roll bar and a variable electronic suspension system which allows the driver to adjust to 14 individual settings.
This model also utilized racing brake pads, Pirelli P-Zero Corsa soft compound tires, specific ventilation ducts, a steering servo with faster response, ergonomic sport pedals, 15" spoke alloy wheels and red brake calipers.
