Maserati MC12: A Carbon Fiber Showstopper

Built on the chassis of the Ferrari Enzo, but larger in size and with lower drag, was the Maserati MC12. Made entirely of carbon fiber, this model is a two-door coupé with a targa top roof that was developed for Maserati's racing comeback after 37 years.

Not only was the MC12 a rare sight, but it was also Maserati's fastest road car ever made, with acceleration from a standstill to 124 mph in less than 10 seconds.

The top speeds of the Maserati MC12 reach an exhilarating 205 mph, powered by a V12 engine with an output of 621 hp. Power is fed to the 19-inch wheels through a rear-mounted, six-speed automated manual transmission, providing a shift time of just 150 milliseconds.

Of course, with its racing nature, the wide body of this model and its design were certainly a showstopper. The MC12 featured a very thin yet wide rear spoiler, an air scoop on top of the cabin which sucks air into the engine compartment and a color scheme of white and blue; a tribute to the America Camoradi racing team that drove the Maserati Tipo Birdcages in the 1960s.

The MC12 includes a roll bar to provide strength and safety, as well as double wishbone suspension with coil springs and dampers, providing stability and a nice smooth ride for passengers. For speed bumps, the MC12 also features a clever button that extends the front suspension so you can raise the front of the car.
