The fifth-generation Maserati Quattroporte is a luxury sports saloon that was produced between 2005 and 2013, some 38 years after the release of the first-generation Quattroporte in 1967.
Given the body style, appeal, and price tag, this fifth-gen QTP found itself going up against heavyweight German luxury brands such as the BMW M5 and the Mercedes AMG. This proved not to be too much of an issue thanks to its essence of Maserati exclusivity combined with its luxurious and spacious cabin.
The first model released was the Quattroporte Executive GT which was powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine that produced 400 horsepower and was paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
In 2007, Maserati introduced the Quattroporte Sport GT S, which was a performance-oriented version of the Executive GT. This enhanced model was powered by a 4.7 liter V8 engine which increased the horsepower to 433 and featured a sport-tuned suspension and larger brakes for improved handling and performance.
The Quattroporte S came along in 2009 and this has been described as a more refined and luxurious version of the Sport GT S. Powered by the same 4.7 liter V8 engine as the Sport GT S it was paired with a more refined six-speed automatic transmission as well as a more refined interior with higher-quality materials.
Another model was added to the line-up in 2013 when Maserati introduced the Quattroporte GTS. This housed a 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 that produced 523 horsepower. The QTP GTS was the fastest and most powerful Quattroporte produced from the fifth generation, and it was also equipped with a variety of advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and a lane departure warning system.
