The 996 GT2 came along in 2001 and is part of the Porsche 996 model family. Powered by a water-cooled twin-turbocharged 3.6 liter flat-six engine, it had an output of 476 hp. This translated performance-wise into a 0-60 mph sprint of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph.
Designed to give drivers more power and a thrilling driving experience, the GT2 weighed less and had an upgraded chassis. It also featured all-wheel drive and PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes) as standard.
The car had updated air intakes, additional air vents, rounded Bi-Xenon headlamps, and a large fixed rear wing. The looks were smooth yet aggressive!
For those that wanted to take the GT2 on the track, there was a Clubsport package upgrade available which included modified features for use in motorsports. These included the seat belt harness, roll-over bar, and fire extinguisher.
